Traveling to and Getting Around Grand Cayman Island

Chicago, New York, Orlando, Washington, Honduras, Tampa, King. Kingston, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Havana as well as Cayman.

Airlines that fly from mainland and other countries include American Airlines, USAIR, Northwest, Delta, Continental, Air Canada,

British Airways and Air Jamaica. British Airways offers four direct flights from London to Grand Cayman and Air Canada provides direct flights from Toronto

. All international flights arrive at Owen Roberts International Airport. If these are not available to customers, most service providers provide connecting flights worldwide. However,

the frequency of flights may vary seasonally. The airport also has a private passenger terminal that supports private jets, a popular way for many famous travelers to get to the island.

Grand Cayman Island is also a very popular cruise terminal in the Western Caribbean islands due to the numerous cruises that stop or the Cayman Islands are the main destination.

Various cruise lines with stops or final destinations including Carnival, Celebrity, Holland America, Princess, Radisson Seven Seas as well as the Royal Caribbean.

The Caribbean is well known for incredible sailing. The best time for this mode of transportation is from January to March, because July and November will rain in the summer and hurricane season. There are many charter services to choose from, including empty boats, ferries, captain boats and boat rental crews.

Traveling around the island

When vacationers land, most of the luxurious homes on Grand Cayman Island are just 15 minutes from the airport by boat or vehicle. In fact,

Living in Grand Cayman has many options for traveling around the island. Taxis are available at the pier and are easily found all over the island. There is also a reliable bus system running throughout Grand Cayman, complete with color coded routes for tourists.

Car rental is a popular way with many well-known services offering car rentals. One disadvantage of renting a car is that the vacationer must obtain a temporary driver’s license from the rental car company or the police station because there are certain obstacles to overcome such as driving on the left side of the road. There are steering wheels on the right or left side, so it is important to choose when booking a car.
